China Introduces Enhanced Quality Standards for Export Vehicles
China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology has introduced new quality standards for export vehicles, including mandatory pre-shipment inspections and extended warranty requirements.

China's Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) has announced comprehensive new quality standards for vehicles destined for export markets. The regulations, effective from April 2025, aim to enhance the reputation of Chinese-manufactured vehicles globally.
Key requirements include:
- Mandatory pre-shipment quality inspection by certified third-party agencies
- Minimum 3-year/100,000 km warranty for all export vehicles
- Compliance with destination country emission standards before shipment
- Digital vehicle passport with complete manufacturing and inspection records
- Mandatory spare parts availability guarantee for 10 years
The new standards apply to all categories of vehicles including passenger cars, commercial vehicles, and construction machinery. Manufacturers must obtain an export quality certification before shipping vehicles overseas.
Industry experts have welcomed the move, noting that it will help address quality concerns in some markets and strengthen the competitive position of Chinese manufacturers against established global brands.
